During its launch, the 2024 Kia EV9 will offer two powertrain options. The standard configuration includes a 76.1-kWh battery that powers a 160-kW (215-hp) rear-wheel-drive motor. Alternatively, there is an optional 99.8-kWh battery available with either a single-motor 201-hp setup or a dual-motor 283-kW (379-hp) all-wheel-drive system. The single-motor configuration is estimated to achieve a range of 489 kilometers according to the EPA, while the dual-motor setup boasts 516 lb.-ft. of torque. Drive modes include Eco, Normal, Sport, and My Mode, with the AWD versions adding Snow Mode. The EV9 incorporates an advanced 800V electrical system, enabling ultrafast charging. It can achieve a 10 to 80 percent charge in under 25 minutes with its 236kW DC charging capability. Additionally, a 10.9kW onboard charger expedites Level 2 charging. Notably, the EV9 combines a high 7.8-inch ground clearance with a towing capacity of up to 5,000 lbs. for AWD models.
The EV9 unveils Kia's state-of-the-art Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) system, delivering faster processing and user-friendly Quick Controls. This advanced system addresses range concerns by providing navigation-based charging guidance using estimated arrival times and remaining distance. It comes equipped with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and a wireless phone charger as standard features. Notably, the EV9 is the first Kia vehicle to support over-the-air vehicle system updates, ensuring continuous enhancements.
